..mangled my video drivers. ARGH! Came across the discs, thought it'd be fun to see what it'd look like on a Crossfire system....bleh. Slow as hell, mouse didn't work in-game and corrupted video drivers. Gah! Yeah, I spent about two hours looking for solutions before I uninstalled Far Cry, wiped the drivers and started all over again.

I have a faint memory (senility?) of this happening before, and noted a lot of screaming users in different posts, but no relevant solutions (other than doing what I did). Anyone remember anything specific?

I remember.... FarCry had trees.
After tugging, in tears, at the goat for what seemed to be forever, he finally got it to abandon his plans to be Alpha Goat of the children's section. The goat, probably now feeling slightly emasculated by a crying ten year old, decided to leave tons (tons.) of cute little pellets all over the floor. He must have been part shotgun, as the spread was amazing.

dunno monk .. have ya tried running it witout the patches?

the last patch for that game sucked ass .. but i do think ya did need patch 1.3 in for SLI support

i installed mine with no patches .. just the no cd patch /crack from gamecopywrld

and version 1.0 did suck for crossfire and SLI machines as well as 64 bit support .. if your trying to run in XP 64 bit you need a totally separate patch just to enable that! ..yea that game is old .. but still fun and looks great

best bet for info on it tho would be the ubi soft forums

Thanks Wid...yes, I was using the latest patch (always do that with older games...d/l the patches while installing).

Bleh....I'll wait 'n put it on my old XPS. It's a 'business' machine now, only thing I play on there is WoW occasionally. Now that I've upgraded the HS/Fan..went with a Zalman VF700-cu....sweet and cool. Not as easy as the one LT used on his X800, but it works nonetheless. Can't beat an idle 32' C, 47' C with WoW running. Might even try OC'ng it to 550/550 levels and see what happens.

And nope, haven't tried the firmware upgrade to PE.

I say you take off, nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.
