I'm giving in at the last minute, as our PBS stations suddenly developed really good content, then went digital

Got a coupon, read reviews...and nearly burned my eyeballs out.

Soo...what's been your experience? I'm the only one watching, MAYBE 30 minutes a day, IF.

There have been cameras and mic's placed in some boxes. I remember a news story from somewhere (someone probably posted it here) about someone buying a cable box from walmart, taking it apart and finding a webcam and mic embedded in the hardware. If you're going to get one, be careful, and possibly consider placing the unit inside a cabinet for your own privacy.

i have comcast here .. but i went out and bought the converter for a secondary TV in case cable goes out .. i get one fucking channel

but it does come in clear and crisp ..even on a 20 yr old RCA 13 inch color TV .. all the other channels are garbage and freeze or display a weak signal warning ..but the scan shows about 14 channels found

but only channel 3 (CBS) comes in clear enough to watch ..guess thats good enough for emergency info.. since i live less then 5 miles from a NUKE plant

AW MAN! Wish you'd posted that before I spent $40 on a Philips powered antennae. GREAT signal though..everything's clear as day on a 10 year old Sony TV.

Had horrible signal on Analog (heck, we've always had bad signal whereever).

Ended up with the Magnavox converter from Wally-World (Wal-mart). Figured if it's the only one they sell, it has to be halfway decent. Reading reviews online, none of 'm had a sparkling rep.

Though I did learn two things:

1. KEEP YOUR $40 government card. It's part of your warranty. You toss it, you may as well toss the converter box if it fails.
2. Take your time and put it together right. I did it in 10 minutes. Wonderful.
