My wife bought me a logitec wireless mouse for my birthday yesterday. I know her heart was in the right place, but will this adversly effect my gaming :?:
I would like to know before I open it since Media Play has a strick refund policy.

Question about wireless devices

All I can say is "try it". If it is working optimally you shouldn't notice a difference.
Most gamers do not like wireless input devices. Any slight delay and your dead. Logitech and Microsoft are the two leaders in input devices and without a doubt make the best stuff.
The new Wireless Optical Mouse with Bluetooth technology from Microsoft is supposed to kick ass. I have one on pre-order and will give it a try. DT has one now and says he loves it. We'll see.
Let me know what you think of it. Don't worry about the store's return policy. Logitech will stand by their products. If you wanted to send it to them in exchange for a wired model, I'm sure they would do it.

OK, just for the record.
Wireless and gaming sucks!
Media Play Sucks!
The wireless mouse jerked around so bad I thought I was having lag problems and when I tried to return it to Media Play, they wouldn't take opened merchandise. Maybe my wife will like it.

If you can't dazzle them with brilliance, riddle them with bullets

I cannot vouch for this personally (until my free mouse/keyboard combo gets here  ) but all the hardcore gamers I've talked to that are doing the wireless thing say the mouse pad is the most important thing to do to improve it. It will make or break the precision of the wireless mouse. Most recommended was an EverGlide pad. Also, if it is wireless infrared, make sure you have a direct line of sight to the base unit.

yes, don't give up so easily.
get the biggest mousepad you can find or any non-black surface that will allow it to travel smoothly.
s
make sure the receiver is in relatively close proximity to the mouse area.
set the sensitivity a bit lower in the windows control panel and then adjust it in each game how you like it.
The default sensitivity is set a bit high in the Logitechs I think.
I have installed 3 Elite Duo Combos (wireless KB/MSE) and the peeps LOVE them. No brainer to set up.
