I am Using a Volcano 6cu+
that rotates @ 700rpm and the noise is 39dBA"which is loud" Its meant for amd athlon 1.5ghz or higher. I am using an AMD Duron 1.2 ghz. I have been using this same fan for about 7 months now. Would it hurt to get another one that is softer and less noise.

I think you ment 7000RPM, right? hehe
You could get a slower fan since your chip doesn't need alot. Just make sure it's rated for your chip and approved. I would suggest however you get a better quality fan to reduce the sound. Then if you ever upgrade the CPU you don't have to shell out fan money again.
